Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: Too Broke to Divorce?
Are the Sussexes really broke?

If someone told me back in 2020, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the United Kingdom, that there would be a future headline talking about how the Sussexes were too broke to divorce, I wouldn’t believe that person at all. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent the early days of their exit from the UK talking about how difficult life was for them within the royal family and dealing with the British press. They went on to create content from books to podcasts and even a docuseries for Netflix talking about how difficult their lives were and why they needed to leave so quickly and so loudly.
They told the world “their truth” to anyone who was willing to listen to them. In the process, they made millions of dollars. At least that was what the public was told. Book deal with Penguin Random House, podcasting deal with Spotify, and a huge Netflix deal said to be worth $100 million dollars. The Sussexes were looking to become financially independent from the British royals and it looked as if they found that freedom in all these million dollar deals. Additionally, they made money doing speeches, greets, and, more recently, Meghan’s “As ever” brand seem to be bringing in a much needed income since the Netflix deal has finished last year.
So why are the Sussexes are being reported as too broke to divorce?
Since 2020, the world been through so much. From Covid to lockdowns and now economic uncertainties as the Strait of Hormuz plays the “It’s open/It’s closed” game as the United States tries to make an agreement with the Iranians. Prices are increasing. We know that the Sussexes lost their Spotify deal and didn’t get paid the full amount because Prince Harry didn’t do his part in creating a podcast. Although, Prince Harry’s book, “Spare” was said to be the fast sold in history, nowhere was it reported that it was the MOST sold memoir in history. Big difference there.
Finally, we get to Netflix. Apart from their docuseries which done well in the first two or three episodes, the Sussexes other content didn’t do well in terms of people watching it. The last of the content given to Netflix was Meghan’s show “With Love, Meghan” which had low ratings in Season 1, Season 2, and the Holiday Special. The deal was concluded last year, leaving the Sussexes with only a “First Look” deal which many people have with Netflix already. Additionally, Meghan, with the help of Netflix, launched her “As ever” brand which sold out within minutes of launching. However, it too seen Netflix deciding to walk away, leaving Meghan to run the brand by herself.
What about financial freedom?
So it appears that the Sussexes did make a nice sum of money that would put them in the “financially free” category. So why report that they are too broke to divorce? Well, it is quite possible that the Sussexes’ lifestyle could be the cause of their “brokenness”? Their house is worth $14 million, so possibly the mortgage, taxes, and insurance is quite high. There is also the cost of security, the increase in gas prices (if they are riding in more than one vehicle or vehicles that are gas guzzlers), the cost of clothing (LOL. I’m too poor for $1000 jeans but I doubt Meghan being so rich would blink twice at spending that amount of money for a piece of clothing). There is also the many lawsuits that Prince Harry had conducted over the years. Some he lost, others he won. There is a ruling that is supposed to be coming up on the last lawsuit he was a part of. Some people think he lost the lawsuit and would have to pay millions.
So while they have millions going into their bank account, they also had millions flowing out of their bank account. However, I still do not believe the Sussexes worked all those years, spreading “their truth” to the world and making money doing so, only to end up too broke to divorce. Wouldn’t they keep an eye on the money they were making especially since they wanted to build a billion dollar brand?
I forgot to add that Prince Harry also left the royal family with millions he inherited from his mother’s estate and millions his father deposited into his bank account before financially cutting Prince Harry off. Allegedly, Meghan entered the royal family with $5 million of her own money. So unless the Sussexes were spending like crazy thinking that they will always have money no matter what, I just don’t see how someone like Meghan Markle who seem to be very good with money (especially if she entered the royal family with $5 million of her own money) could be too broke to divorce.
Addition to all of that, it has been reported but never refuted that Meghan Markle has a post-divorce book ready to be published. It has been estimated by the media that Prince Harry earned $27 million for his memoir, Spare. If that is true, Meghan could possibly earn the same amount or even more. So how is she or Prince Harry “too broke to divorce”?
Maybe I am missing something.
