Meghan Markle is now dubbed “Salmonella Sussex”

In yet another “She does everything wrong” saga, it seems as if Meghan’s “degrangers” have dubbed her the “Salmonella Sussex” after Meghan posted a clip of her preparing a Thanksgiving turkey with jewelry on and her hair down.

Why is she now being dubbed “Salmonella Sussex”?

Meghan had uploaded a video clip on Instagram which shown her preparing a Thanksgiving turkey. In the clip, she was wearing her wedding ring and some bracelets while she rubbed her seasonings onto her raw turkey with her bare hands. This led to people saying her jewelry was picking up all kinds of bacteria from the raw turkey which could lead to salmonella.

Additionally, in the clip, Meghan is wearing her hair down and some viewers pointed out that she should have placed her hair in her signature bun or a ponytail to keep hair from falling onto the raw turkey.

Plenty of food influencers do this…

It’s been pointed out by others that plenty of food influencers have been known to cook and bake with jewelry on and their hair down. However, as others pointed out, this is very bad food prepping etiquette. Despite the turkey being prepared for her family to eat, Meghan (as well as other food influencers) must understand when uploading such videos, it’s being viewed by people outside of her family.

Therefore, people have different views on how food should be prepared. Some prefer animals to be out of the kitchen, hair up or out of the way, jewelry off so that bacteria does not get all over them, etc.  Of course, there is no pleasing everyone.

Is Meghan ready to give up?

It seems as if Meghan might be ready to give up on sharing personal moments on the internet.

According to Rob Shuter on substack:

“Meghan was devastated. It was supposed to be wholesome. She didn’t think the world would drag her over a turkey. She’s sick of being criticized no matter what she does.”

Being a social media influencer isn’t easy. Catering to millions of viewers, each with their own particular preference, isn’t easy. Not everyone is going to like the way an influencer does something whether it’s the clothes the influencer wears, hair style, make up or food prepping, someone or several people will always have something negative to say. The key is to rise above it. Take the constructive criticism as a way to improve oneself and your brand, leave all the rest alone. Move on.

Ignoring the naysayers is harder to do but it can be done. I’m sure with a little time off, a bit of relaxation, Meghan will reconsider. She does seem to have a tight-knit fanbase in the Sussex Squad.

Here’s to hoping Meghan finds her path in life be it offline or online.
