Did Dolly Parton really shun Meghan Markle’s “With Love, Meghan” Netflix Show?

I’m going to start off by saying that I’m not a huge fan (or ANY fan) of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I think their “truth” is just that: THEIR TRUTH as opposed to THE TRUTH. However, I believe there are some people who have thrown their hats into this whole mess just to stir the pot.

Kinsey Schofield, a royal reporter, have recently revealed on “The Nerve with Maureen Callahan” podcast that Dolly Parton was allegedly approached by Meghan Markle and asked to appear on her Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan” before being dismissed.

Was Dolly Parton’s team REALLY livid?

For whatever reason that wasn’t clearly explained, Dolly Parton’s team were “livid” that Meghan wanted to jeopardize Dolly’s popularity by having her on the “With Love, Meghan” Netflix show. No one explain WHY Parton’s team were livid. What could possibly be the problem? Did Meghan DEMAND in a very rude way for Dolly to appear on her show? Did Meghan wave around her Duchess of Sussex title, her HRH style, her husband’s title, her dead mother-in-law connection and it made people livid?

In an interview, Dolly was asked about whether she would join Meghan Markle on her lifestyle and cooking Netflix show. Dolly replied:

“Well, never say never, you never know where you’re gonna go,” she said. “In fact, I’m going to go to England in October, and I’m going to actually, hopefully, get to have tea with the queen.”

Dolly Parton dealing with her husband sickness for awhile

On March 3, 2025, Dolly’s husband, Carl Thomas Dean, passed away. He shunned the limelight even though his wife, Dolly, was a huge success globally. According to a recent interview she did, Dolly mentioned that Carl “was ill for quite a while”.

So it wasn’t like she woke up and found that he passed on to the afterlife. It was a long illness, a long goodbye for her. We know that Meghan’s cooking show as filmed in 2024. It could be that Dolly was unable to appear on the cooking show due to prior scheduled work and dealing with her husband’s illness. If Meghan approached Dolly or Dolly’s team for a chance at getting the A-list singer onto her show, it could have been a polite “no but if Dolly ever gets an opening in her schedule, she’ll be sure to call you if she can” type of reply.

Unless Kinsey Schofield or her source comes out and say exactly why Dolly’s team was “livid” by Meghan’s request, I just don’t see this being true.
